For larger files and datasets it is recommended to use the dedicated scratch space, available on GPFS (a powerful distributed file system). It is accessible via environment variable $SCRATCH (something like /gpfs/scratch/pr58be/di56liv).
- the scratch storage is shared among all projects on C2PAP
- total capacity is about 260 TB
If needed least used data will be removed. Until now (Aug 2014) sufficient space is available and no automatic cleanup is done.
For small files, projects sources, etc, one can use home-directories or dedicated project areas, see C2PAP Storage.
The LRZ dCache Grid storage can be accessed from C2PAP as on the Linux cluster, see DCache.
